Twitter suspends over 300 accounts in Marcos network

Rappler · January 21, 2022

Twitter suspended more than 300 accounts drawn from Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s supporter base for violating its platform manipulation and spam policy, after reviewing the hashtags and accounts identified in a Rappler investigation into newly created and revived accounts amplifying tags including #BBMSaBalota, #BringBackMarcos and #UnitedForMarcosJr. Twitter said most of the accounts had already been removed by routine enforcement, and noted that it publishes campaigns it can confidently attribute to state-linked activity in a separate public archive. Marcos's spokesperson said there was 'no certainty' that the suspended accounts were supporters.
