Suspected electoral fraud connected with Mohamed Abdukardir Ali's campaign: 'I was shocked'

SVT report, published 21 September 2026 and updated 23 September, that prosecutors are investigating suspected electoral fraud in Borlänge. Citing Dagens Industri, it reports that people handed out pre-marked Riksdag ballots and urged voters to mark Left Party candidate Mohamed Abdukardir Ali; citing sources quoted by Aftonbladet, that police watched people distribute pre-marked ballots, drive voters to polling premises and hand voters cash withdrawn from an ATM. Ali, a party member for less than a year who entered the Riksdag on 648 personal votes, denies any involvement. The complaint reached the Prosecution Authority on 1 September, was closed for lack of evidence and reopened on new information; a separate police report was made on 13 September after the Dalarna county administrative board received a reported incident. The Left Party announced on 22 September that Ali would take a time-out and not serve from the start of the term.
