Tabulation

The aggregation of counted votes up from polling stations to the national total — the stage where transcription errors and, in falsification cases, deliberate alteration occur.

Parallel vote tabulation (PVT)

An independent count built from observers’ copies of polling-station results, statistically sampled — it can confirm or contradict an official total on election night.
