121 votes in Simrishamn were lost – may have affected the election outcome

SVT report of 23 September 2026 that 121 advance votes in Simrishamn, 117 valid and four judged invalid, were never counted after an error in the Wednesday collection count, and were discovered too late to send to the county administrative board. Jesper Jacobsson, head of legal affairs and responsible for elections at the Skåne county administrative board, calls it very serious and says the votes probably have no significance for the Riksdag or regional elections but could matter for the distribution of seats on the municipal council; whether a new election is needed is a question for the Election Review Board. The report adds that 70 to 80 advance votes were also lost in Tomelilla.
