AG/RES. 2978 (LI-O/21): The Situation in Nicaragua

Adopted at the fourth plenary session of the OAS General Assembly's fifty-first regular session on 12 November 2021, the resolution declares that the elections held on 7 November in Nicaragua were not free, fair or transparent and have no democratic legitimacy, concludes that democratic institutions in Nicaragua have been seriously undermined by the Government, reiterates the call for the release of all political candidates and political prisoners, and instructs the Permanent Council to complete a collective assessment of the situation no later than 30 November 2021.
