National Assembly Elects Cyril Ramaphosa as President-Elect

Parliament's record of the first sitting of the seventh National Assembly on Friday 14 June 2024, at which Cyril Ramaphosa was elected President-elect with 283 votes against 44 for the other nominee, Julius Malema. It notes that a person elected President ceases to be a member of the National Assembly and must assume office within five days, and that the President then forms a cabinet and convenes a joint sitting for the Opening of Parliament Address.
