Half of Swedes fear election interference – but the Swedish election is not currently prioritised by threat actors

Director-general Magnus Hjort states that the agency assesses that no coordinated foreign information campaigns aimed at influencing the Swedish election are currently under way, and that the election, although held in an uncertain and serious security situation, is not currently a priority target for foreign threat actors, who act opportunistically. It names generative AI as the largest difference from earlier elections. A survey by Perspetivo for the agency found that 24 per cent of adults thought an attempt at election influence by a foreign power very likely and 40 per cent fairly likely, while 16 and 41 per cent thought actual influence very or fairly likely.
