Suffrage

The right to vote, and the historical question of who holds it — the franchise has expanded and contracted repeatedly in most countries.

Disenfranchisement

The loss or denial of voting rights, whether by law, administration or obstruction — its effect is measurable regardless of whether the intent can be shown.

Voter purge

The removal of names from the roll — necessary maintenance when it removes the deceased and relocated, disenfranchisement when it removes eligible voters.
