Freedom House's country report for the coverage period 1 June 2023 to 31 May 2024 rates Pakistan Not Free with an internet freedom score of 27 out of 100. It records that mobile internet service was suspended nationwide for about ten hours on election day, 8 February 2024, that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority told a court in March that the Ministry of Interior had requested the suspension and that it was legally obliged to comply, and that the Sindh High Court had ordered in January 2024 that uninterrupted internet access be maintained up to election day. It also documents throttling and platform inaccessibility during PTI online events in January 2024, the blocking of PTI websites, and the blocking of the investigative outlet Fact Focus eight days before the poll.
