Yoon's election fraud obsession sparks political turmoil

The Korea Times · December 12, 2024

Reports President Yoon Suk Yeol's televised address of 12 December 2024, in which he said the National Election Commission's network systems were vulnerable to cyberattack and that voters could not have confidence in results, citing the National Intelligence Service's 2023 cybersecurity checkup as his basis for sending troops to NEC premises. It records that hundreds of troops were sent to the NEC headquarters in Gwacheon and to offices in Seoul and Suwon, that colonel-level officers of the Korea Defense Intelligence Command were in the commission's computer room filming the server that stored voter rolls and early voting materials, having brought computer forensic tools, and that the NEC accepted the existence of vulnerabilities but said they did not show that fraud had occurred.
