Analysis of Invalid Ballots: 2022 General Elections - Direct Elections

A CIK BiH study by Jasminka Joldic, approved for publication by the Commission's collegium on 14 March 2023, finding that of 6,914,784 ballots processed at the 2022 general elections 6,429,415 (93 per cent) were valid and 485,369 (7 per cent) invalid, of which 264,782 were unmarked. Unmarked ballots made up 54.6 per cent of all invalid ballots, against 48.56 per cent in 2018. The invalid rate varied by contest, highest for the BiH House of Representatives at 8.38 per cent and lowest for the Republika Srpska National Assembly at 5.52 per cent, with the BiH Presidency at 6.65 per cent and the Republika Srpska presidency at 5.75 per cent.
