The State Security Service has not identified unlawful activity in the 14th Saeima elections

State Security Service of Latvia (Valsts drošības dienests) · October 3, 2022

Two days after the vote the State Security Service stated that the elections had passed off peacefully, that it had identified no unlawful activity aimed at influencing voters' choice or the election result, and that it had detected no attempt by hostile foreign states to influence the elections either during the pre-election period or on election day. It received about 70 reports of possible violations, more than 20 before election day and about 40 on 1 October; fewer than 30 fell within its competence, mostly alleged unlawful influencing of voters and possible vote-buying, and checks confirmed none of them. In some cases it held preventive conversations warning of criminal liability. No criminal proceedings had been opened in connection with the elections at the time of the statement.
