Civil Review Petitions No. 312, 313, 319, 320, 331, 332, 1264 and 1272 of 2024 in Civil Appeals No. 333 and 334 of 2024 (short order)

Supreme Court of Pakistan, Constitutional Bench · June 27, 2025

On review petitions brought by PML-N, the PPPP and the Election Commission, a Constitutional Bench allowed all the review petitions by a majority of seven, set aside the Supreme Court's own majority judgment of 12 July 2024, dismissed the Sunni Ittehad Council's appeals and restored the Peshawar High Court judgment. Two of the thirteen judges originally constituting the bench had dismissed the review petitions on the first day of hearing and one recused at the end; Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail would have maintained the original order as to 39 seats, while Justices Muhammad Ali Mazhar and Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi would have directed the Commission to re-examine the affiliation of all 80 returned candidates de novo within 15 days.
