Prosecutors close the electoral fraud case after an expert report identifying negligence but not manipulation
La Patria (Oruro) · July 27, 2021
Attorney General Juan Lanchipa announced a conclusive request for dismissal in the 2019 electoral fraud case, saying the matter investigated did not constitute a crime. The decision followed a cybersecurity forensic report by the Deep Tech Lab of BISITE at the General Foundation of the University of Salamanca, which confirmed negligence by Neotec, the company running the TREP, and identified two servers that were not part of the authorised electoral infrastructure, while concluding that there was no manipulation of the data. Former members of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal had been held in pre-trial detention in the case.
