Nicaragua 2026 General Election
The 2025 constitution schedules general elections every six years on the first Sunday after 2 November. In 2026 that date is 8 November; it supersedes the CSE's older FAQ, which still says the first Sunday of November.
Nicaragua's first general election under the 2025 constitution will choose a male and female co-presidential ticket and legislative representatives for six-year terms. The central questions are whether competition, candidate eligibility, media access, observation, voter-register review and count transparency meet the rights guaranteed in law and address the documented restrictions surrounding 2021.
