Human Rights Lawyers Call Haitian Electoral Court's Verification a Lost Opportunity

Bureau des Avocats Internationaux and Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti · January 10, 2017

The two legal organisations criticised the National Electoral Challenges Bureau's review of 1,560 tally sheets, about 12% of the total, ordered after the three runners-up challenged the 20 November 2016 presidential result. They said the review procedures were changed during the process, that voter identities were not checked against the national identification office register and that 40% of national identity card numbers remained unaccounted for, and they disputed the tribunal's 3 January finding that no massive fraud had occurred.
