Shehbaz Sharif elected Pakistan PM for second term after controversial vote

Reports that on 3 March 2024 the newly elected National Assembly chose Shehbaz Sharif of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz as Prime Minister, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq declaring him elected with 201 votes against 92 for Omar Ayub Khan, the candidate backed by the PTI-endorsed independents, in a 336-member house where 169 votes are required. Sharif took the oath of office the following day.
