Quarterly Adversarial Threat Report, Second Quarter 2022

Meta · August 4, 2022

Meta's quarterly threat report carries an 'In focus: Philippines' section on the May 2022 election. Investigators manually removed about 10,000 accounts for inauthentic behaviour used to inflate the distribution of election-related posts; automated detection then identified hundreds of further clusters and actioned over 15,000 accounts after expert review, those clusters being on average less than six months old; and automated enforcement removed more than 50,000 accounts globally, about 10% of them originating in or targeting the Philippines. Meta classified this activity under its Inauthentic Behavior policy rather than as coordinated inauthentic behaviour, and attributed none of it to a candidate or campaign.
