Fact check on the National Election Commission's information security system

National Election Commission of the Republic of Korea · December 24, 2024

The NEC's point-by-point response to claims about the security of its systems raised after the 3 December 2024 martial law declaration. It states that the commission opened all servers other than unused equipment to the joint security consulting team that included the National Intelligence Service, that the conclusion that its firewall was ineffective is unreasonable because security systems were partially disabled for the test, that a password management deficiency in one programme was corrected immediately, and that most identified vulnerabilities were remedied and re-inspected with NIS participation before the April 2024 National Assembly election.
