Press Release on Disinformation Campaign Regarding the Role of the OAS in the Bolivian Elections

Organization of American States General Secretariat · June 16, 2020

The General Secretariat rejects what it calls a disinformation campaign about its role in the 2019 Bolivian election, states that validating results is the exclusive power of the accredited national authorities, and argues that the statistical studies challenging its audit rest on two false premises: that the figures reported in the official count were valid, and that a statistical analysis can determine whether fraud occurred rather than merely indicate irregularities. It restates that 226 tally sheets in the audit sample carried serious irregularities at tables where Morales obtained 91% of the votes.
