AI and Covert Influence Operations: Latest Trends

OpenAI's threat report on five covert influence operations it disrupted, among them Zero Zeno, operated by the Israeli commercial company STOIC. The report states that in early May the network began targeting audiences in India with English-language content, that it generated comments criticizing the ruling BJP and praising the opposition Congress party, and that OpenAI disrupted the India-focused activity less than 24 hours after it began. None of the five operations scored above 2 on OpenAI's Breakout Scale — activity across multiple platforms, but no breakout into authentic audiences.
