SEOM issues Preliminary Statement following the 2024 National and Provincial Elections in the Republic of South Africa

The SADC Electoral Observation Mission, headed by former Zambian vice-president Enock Kavindele, reported that voting on 29 May 2024 took place in an orderly, peaceful and free atmosphere that enabled voters to express their democratic will. The statement was issued jointly with the African Union mission, EISA and the Electoral Commissions Forum of SADC Countries, which together concluded that the elections were conducted in a peaceful, transparent, free and credible manner.
