““Leaked audio proves Michal Šimečka planned to rig the Slovak election””
An AI-generated audio deepfake, released during Slovakia's 48-hour pre-election moratorium in 2023, falsely depicted Progressive Slovakia leader Michal Šimečka and Denník N journalist Monika Tódová planning to rig the vote by buying Roma votes and manipulating the count. Fact-checkers assessed the audio as synthetic and both named people denounced it — one of the first prominent cases of an election-timed audio deepfake.
