Alexander Lukashenko
President of Belarus since 1994, when he won the last election international observers regarded as broadly competitive. Referendums held under his presidency in 1996 and 2004 expanded the powers of the office and removed the limit on presidential terms. The 2020 election, in which he was declared the winner, was held without an OSCE/ODIHR observation mission and its official result was widely disputed.
