Haiti 2026 General Election
30 August was the original first-round date. On 20 July, CARICOM told the UN Security Council that an August election was no longer achievable; Haiti's electoral authority and government were discussing a revised timetable.
Haiti is attempting its first national election since 2016–2017 amid severe insecurity and a prolonged absence of elected national institutions. Voter registration began in July under a new electoral decree, but the original August date has slipped and no replacement calendar should be treated as settled until the Provisional Electoral Council publishes it.
