Indictment
United States v. Kazemi and Kashian — 2020 election interference indictment
U.S. Department of Justice, Southern District of New York · November 18, 2021
The federal indictment alleges that two Iran-based hackers and co-conspirators conducted a four-stage campaign from August through November 2020: probing state voter websites and obtaining more than 100,000 voter records from one state, impersonating the Proud Boys in false messages, sending threatening emails to tens of thousands of voters, distributing a fabricated video about overseas-ballot fraud, and attempting to use compromised media infrastructure after election day. The charges are allegations unless proved in court.
