Opposition candidate in Venezuela's 2024 presidential election, nominated after María Corina Machado was barred. His campaign collected and published actas from more than 80% of polling stations showing him winning 67.1%; the Carter Center verified the actas dataset as accurate. Facing arrest, he left Venezuela for asylum in Spain in September 2024.

Actas collected by his campaign's agents from 81.7% of polling stations instead recorded 67.1% for González — data the Carter Center found accurate, rendering the official announcement statistically impossible.
