Election watch
Bosnia and Herzegovina 2026 General Election
Elects the tripartite Presidency, the state House of Representatives, and the entity-level assemblies. Held every four years under the Election Law.
A general election in a state whose constitutional order is itself contested by part of its own leadership, held under a system where ethnicity determines what a citizen may vote for. Bosnia is a standing test of the difference between an election that is administered correctly and one that is genuinely free and fair — the two questions this database keeps separate everywhere.
What to watch
Each point is classified under the same five categories as a documented finding, so an upcoming election reads with the same frame as a past one.
- Process violations
Whether the ethnicity-based restrictions on candidacy, repeatedly found to breach the European Convention on Human Rights, remain in force at this election.
- Process violations
Whether entity-level authorities recognise the state election commission's authority over the count, and whether results are certified without parallel disputed tallies.
- Information operations
Whether secession and delegitimisation narratives are amplified around the vote, and whether they are sourced domestically or externally.

Documented country-targeting precedent, not evidence of activity in Bosnia and Herzegovina's 2026 campaign: Portal Kombat operated a Bosnia-targeted domain within its wider network. Watch for automated republication, localised domains and search manipulation.

Precedent, not prediction
Documented past → this vote
Each is a past, documented case linked to this vote as precedent — not a claim that it is active here. Watch for reuse of the technique, not the name.

Where the date comes from
- General elections in BiH scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026 — Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Scheduled dates come from national election authorities and are linked above. Dates can move; where one is not yet fixed by decree it is marked as expected rather than confirmed. Listing an election here is not a prediction that anything improper will occur — it is a statement about what would be worth checking if it did.
